FD-Term Hybrid Inflation with Electroweak-Scale Lepton Number Violation

چکیده

We study F -term hybrid inflation in a novel supersymmetric extension of the SM with a subdominant Fayet–Iliopoulos D-term. We call this particular form of inflation, in short, FD-term hybrid inflation. The proposed model ties the μ-parameter of the MSSM to an SO(3)-symmetric Majorana massmN , through the vacuum expectation value of the inflaton field. The late decays of the ultraheavy particles associated with the extra U(1) gauge group, which are abundantly produced during the preheating epoch, could lower the reheat temperature even up to 1 TeV, thereby avoiding the gravitino overproduction problem. The baryon asymmetry in the Universe can be explained by thermal electroweak-scale resonant leptogenesis, in a way independent of any pre-existing leptonor baryon-number abundance. Further cosmological and particle-physics implications of the FD-term hybrid model are briefly discussed. PACS numbers: 98.80.Cq, 12.60.Jv, 11.30Pb

Anatomy of FD-Term Hybrid Inflation

We analyze the cosmological implications of F -term hybrid inflation with a subdominant Fayet– Iliopoulos D-term whose presence explicitly breaks a D-parity in the inflaton-waterfall sector. This scenario of inflation, which is called FD-term hybrid model for brevity, can naturally predict lepton number violation at the electroweak scale, by tying the μ-parameter of the MSSM to an SO(3)-symmetr...

Cosmological baryon and lepton number in the presence of electroweak fermion-number violation.

In the presence of rapid fermion-number violation due to nonperturbative electroweak effects certain relations between the baryon number of the Universe and the lepton numbers of the Universe are predicted. In some cases the electron-neutrino asymmetry is exactly specified in terms of the baryon asymmetry. Without introducing new particles —beyond the usual quarks and leptons —it is necessary t...

Degenerate Neutrinos and Supersymmetric Inflation

A moderate extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model which includes a U(1)B−L gauge group (B and L being the baryon and lepton number) and a Peccei-Quinn symmetry, U(1)PQ , is presented. The hybrid inflationary scenario is automatic and ‘natural’ in this model. The μ problem of the minimal supersymmetric standard model is solved by coupling the electroweak higgses to fields which b...

The More Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model

Effective Supersymmetry is presented as a theory of physics above the electroweak scale which has significant theoretical advantages over both the standard model and the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard model (MSSM). The theory is supersymmetric at short distances but differs significantly from the MSSM: there is no supersymmetric CP problem and flavor changing neutral currents and lepton flavor...

Low Scale Leptogenesis from Non-Leptonic CP -Phases

We point out new sources of CP -violation for leptogenesis at electroweak temperatures. In supersymmetric models, CP -violation leading to a lepton asymmetry can originate from the phase of the μ-term relative to soft gaugino masses or soft triscalar interactions. As an additional possibility, we consider a top-quark loop in a multiple Higgs doublet model. Leptogenesis from these non-leptonic C...
